NCQLP - LC Luncheon - LIGHTFAIR 2008
Thursday, May 29th, 2007 Please join the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP), its President, C. Charles Occhino, LC, and the NCQLP Officers and Board members in recognizing the new LCs who successfully completed the 2007 Examination, the 11th! All LCs will be updated on the latest NCQLP developments and goals for 2008. Examination Committee Chair, Kathy Abernathy, LC, will introduce the new LCs and provide an examination progress report. Keynote Speaker: NCQLP is pleased to present as this year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Jennifer Veitch, Senior Research Officer, National Research Council of Canada. Keynote Topic: Healthful Lighting: What We Need to Know Topic Description: High-quality lighting simultaneously addresses individual human needs, economic and environmental issues, and architectural design. Recent research advances showing connections between photobiology and lighting design excite many in the lighting community because they expand the range of human needs that lighting can satisfy. New beneficial possibilities for lighting have appeared, and it seems likely that future lighting recommendations will be different from current ones because of this knowledge. This presentation will briefly summarize the state of knowledge in this dynamic research domain, following the five principles of healthy lighting identified by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) in its 2004 report "Ocular Lighting Effects on Human Physiology and Behaviour". These simple principles leave many unanswered questions, to which the lighting community needs answers before considering changes to lighting recommendations. Plan now to attend this recognition Luncheon which is an excellent opportunity to earn one LEU and meet your LC colleagues at the largest annual LIGHTFAIR luncheon event. This promises to be another sell-out, so be sure to obtain your tickets early. To purchase your luncheon ticket, visit the Lightfair website at www.lightfair.com soon! Plan to stop by the NCQLP booth at LIGHTFAIR, too, for the latest information regarding examination host cities for 2008. Current LCs may pick up their LC ribbon. The new 2008 editions of NCQLP publications will also be available.
